What You'll Do : Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
Develop production plans to maximize supply and achieve operational and inventory efficiency targets. Purchase raw materials, packaging, and other components to achieve the production plan.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Purchases raw and packaging materials in accordance with proper purchasing practices, stocking levels and production requirements.
- Maintain raw materials, packaging, and finished goods inventory to ensure optimal inventory availability in support of demand forecasts.
- Maintain accurate master data to drive efficient planning processes and inventory management.
- Communicate to Corporate Procurement concerning changes in pricing, lead-times, or other issues impacting supply.
- Generate and monitor open purchase orders and follow up on any past due or delayed receipts with the supplier or receiving department.
- Prepare weekly production schedules to ensure proper product availability to support demand forecasts and stocking levels.
- Resolve capacity planning constraints by balancing production resources, machine capacity, inventory, and manpower.
- Maintain SAP MRP data.
- Responsible for production planning, utilizing SAP MRP and other information / data sources.
- Coordinates SAP process order processing by working with the Production, Quality and Logistics staff.
- Coordinate and participate with the local management team to communicate issues, solutions to meet budget, and operational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with Production, Customer Service and Shipping / Receiving staff to ensure efficient and on time movement of materials through the plant.
- Collaborate with R&D, Corporate and local EHS, Marketing and Production staff to ensure proper labeling for product and raw materials.
Skills you'll need : * 5 years of production planning and/or buying in a manufacturing environment.
- B.S. degree in Business Management or Supply Chain.
- APICS certification a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point; SAP software experience preferred.
- Proficient in SAP or comparable ERP system.
- Strong people skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Understanding of inventory management techniques.
- Knowledge of bill of materials and component behaviors in MRP processes.
