Silgan Closures, New Castle Plant is a major producer of bottle caps for the water, juice, and dairy industry. The New Castle facility has maintained continuous operations in Neshannock Township for 25 years and is currently adding product lines and equipment to serve our customers across the country.
We are offering up to $16 an hour to highly motivated dependable employees to join our team to move product from our production floor to the warehouse. Starting rate is dependent on prior material handling experience..
Silgan provides full time hours, 2 weeks paid vacation, 10 paid holidays and 2 personal paid days off from date of hire. Eligibility for a competitive benefit package is after 60 days of full-time employment.

- Assigned to a steady turn. New hires have a choice (based on availability at time of hire) to work 4PM to midnight or Midnight to 8AM.

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Monitor status of product on skids for removal into warehouse for storage using pallet jacks
- Move skids of product or supplies to proper locations in warehouse using a fork truck.
- Follow appropriate scanning procedures for documentation of product moved to warehouse.
- Set up bulk inventory to ensure sufficient amounts are available for machinery to operate.
- Remove nonconforming material, weigh it, and put it in gaylords.
- Relieve machine operators during employee breaks and lunch period.
- Coordinate with maintenance and QC to complete color changes in a thorough and efficient manner to reduce changeover downtime
- Fill regrind on machines and fill color and slip at the end of each shift
- Ensure that the work environment is clean and safe. This includes picking up caps, cleaning up oil around machines, emptying trash and sweeping the floor.
- Make preparations for the next shift, including removal of final product skids, replenishment of boxes, bags, and skids, removal of purges from the injection presses, staging boxes, bags, and gaylords.
- Check the amount of resin in the gaylords periodically to ensure that the quantity levels are sufficient for machine operation.
- Check each machine to verify that a sufficient amount of bags and boxes are available to maintain operations throughout the shift.
- Grind unground product.
- Put unused color gaylords away when not in use.
