As a Controller, you will have the opportunity to oversee SVM’s daily financial operations and provide strategic support in financial decision making, directly contributing to our yearly financial objectives. The Controller will service as a financial expert, playing a crucial role in implementing and enforcing internal control policies, procedures, and other processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
What You Will Do:
- Oversee and develop a team of accounting professionals across multiple disciplines.
- Mentor staff to ensure they have the necessary resources to deliver excellence internally and externally.
- Manage daily accounting operations to ensure we maintain operational efficiency, data accuracy, and integrity across the organization.
- Manage and capitalize fixed assets.
- Manage and post entries for lease obligations.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of financial strategies to drive company growth and profitability.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts for departments, monitor variances and update forecasts based on changes in business or market conditions as needed.
- Oversee monthly WIP processes, monitoring projections and cost variance reports, and attend project team meetings as required.
- Establish and enforce robust internal controls processes to minimize risks and safeguard SVM’s assets.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage the month end close process, ensuring the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Work with CFO to train business leaders on financial monitoring processes and cost minimization best practices.
- Collaborate with various departments to address accounting and operational tasks, including developing reporting systems.
- Identify areas within the department to increase efficiency and/or streamline processes and implement solutions.
- Support the Accounting Department with other tasks as business requires.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field required.
- 5-7 years’ experience within a Sr. Accounting role required.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a team across multiple accounting disciplines preferred.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and implementing internal controls highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards required.
- Willingness to submit to a comprehensive background check a must.
- Experience with Viewpoint preferred, other accounting software a must.
- Has strong decision-making skills, with the capability of making informed decisions that positively impact organizational success a must.
- Proven track record of independently initiating and leading projects required.
Compensation & Company Benefits Include
This is a full-time exempt position. The compensation for this role is $150,000 – 180,000 annually and is based on experience and skillset.
