CONTRACT: 240 Contract Days – Certified Personnel Salary Schedule
Primary Functions
The Director of Academic Support and ESOL Programs provides direct guidance and feedback to all instructional and administrative staff regarding the new teacher induction program, formative and summative data disaggregation along with student-centered coaching strategies. The Director of Academic Support and ESOL Programs provides direct guidance and feedback to all instructional and administrative staff on the development of district-wide ESOL efforts and the related programs that support students in grades Pre-K through 12.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:(This list may not include all duties assigned)
Direct the new teacher induction and mentoring program throughout the year including job-embedded professional development
Provide school leaders the tools, support, and training needed to refine and articulate the overall instructional strategies for teachers, including attention to different learning styles, different student cultural backgrounds, low ability readers, English Learners, and students with advanced capabilities
Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs
Collaborate with principals in analyzing assessment data and interpreting data to increase student achievement
Support instructional coaches to provide job-embedded professional development that has the greatest probability to improve teachers’ instructional practices
Coordinate placement of University educational interns
Develop and implement the K-12 ESOL program to meet educational needs of students requiring English language development
Coordinate migrant program and supervise migrant clerk/aide
Manage data collection and reporting function for ESOL; utilize multiple data points in decision-making
Establish program criteria; supervise testing and placement, and use evidence to determine ESOL exit criteria
Coordinate professional development for K-12 ESOL teachers, administrators, and content teachers
Collaborate and coordinate with other district supervisors in meeting ESOL student needs (SPED, GT, transportation, nursing, PHWC)
Partner with ESOL Communication Specialist in parent engagement activities and community functions
Remain current in federal, state, and district rules and regulations
Develop and monitor the program budget in accordance with DESE and USDOE guidelines
Promote, review, and communicate progress toward goals identified in the District Strategic Plan and the School Level Improvement Plans
Facilitate and promote teamwork at all levels
Attend all administrative meetings as appropriate for the purpose of ensuring effective communication between the building and district level teams
Provide general support to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Skill in computer applications with aptitude for learning new programs and social media options for program visibility
Proficient in ESchool, EFinance, Google platform, etc
Skilled in developing, implementing and monitoring processes and procedures for ESOL department
Ability to maintain logs, records, and data files
Use of professional Standard English - oral and written
Attention to detail
Education/Experience
Minimum 3-5 years experience as a building or district administrator
Master’s degree in education or related field required
Minimum of 3 years effective ESOL classroom teaching preferred
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
