POSITION TITLE: Library Media Assistant Southside Elementary
FLSA: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Southside Librarian and Administrators
LOCATION: Southside, Library
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185-day contract with benefits according to Siloam Springs
School Board policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Bilingual Spanish/English desired but not required.
- Experience working in a professional office setting.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Able to operate personal computer, laptop computer, peripheral computer equipment, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment with a high degree of skill.
- Highly motivated with strong organizational skills
- Able to coordinate multiple tasks at one time.
- Self-starter; able to work independently.
- Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
JOB DUTIES:
- Run the circulation desk (checking in/out books)
- Assisting patrons in finding proper materials
- Shelving materials
- Keeping the library clean for patrons
- Self-motivated
- Willing to read YA books
- Open minded
- Fast learner
- VERY good with technology
- Understands confidentiality and library laws when explained
- Trainable
- Ability to manage a room full of teenagers
- Willing to work with teachers in a productive manner
- Flexible
- Organized
- Other duties as assigned
