What are the responsibilities and job description for the Silver Dollar City - Food Cook I, Rivertown Smokehouse, Full-Time position at Silver Dollar City Ozark Mtns?
This is a Full-Time Seasonal position from February 29, 2024 until December 30, 2024.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Summary: As a cook for Silver Dollar City, you may perform a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, cooking to order, plating entrées, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, preparing and cooking for our restaurants. Our cooks must be comfortable working in small areas and demonstrate a friendly, caring attitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read menu to estimate food requirements and order food from supplier or procure food from storage.
- Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe to prepare salads, sauces and desserts.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, vegetables and other foods.
- Add seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
- Observe and test foods being cooked to order or in batch cooking.
- Portion food on serving plates, add gravies and sauces, and garnish servings to fill orders.
Required Skills:
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to understand and correctly apply weights and measures to recipes
- Able to operate ovens, fryers, grills, smokers and cryovacs
- Must be able to complete an in-house ServSafe food training class
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and/or carry an average weight of 25 pounds to 50 pounds maximum.
- Push and/or pull an average weight of 25 pounds to 60 pounds maximum.
- Stand/walk on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete for 67 – 100% hours at a time
- Work in extreme weather conditions
- Wear personal protective gear (Hair restraints, food safe gloves, etc) correctly most of the day
- Remember locations, understand and carry out instructions
