Patient Appointment Scheduler

Job Description Summary

Answers the incoming calls and routes them to the appropriate resource. Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple physicians and locations.

Tasks

• Scheduling and verifying patient appointment, location and time

• Obtaining and entering accurate patient information into the appropriate system

• Taking messages, screening and forwarding calls

• Confirming same-day (as needed), next day and two (2) days ahead appointments

• Identify opportunities to optimize patient care such as converting Sports Physicals to Well Visits

• Checking insurance carriers to ensure practice participation in plan

• Entering new insurance information, as needed

• Updating / correcting spelling of names, birth dates, etc. to ensure data integrity

• Mailing New Patient, CPE and PAP forms

• Completing FAX Press sessions

• Duties to increase and diversify as experience is gained

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in writing

• Knowledge of practice policies and procedures

• Ability to work independently and as a team member

• Able to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency

• Ability to read and comprehend patient medical charts, medical terminology, prescription medications and physician messages.

• Strong computer skills and interpretation of EMR systems a plus

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology

• Telephone experience a plus

• Knowledge of and/or experience in a private medical office setting preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.00 per hour
