What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Fueler position at Silvi Concrete Products, Inc.?
Title of Position: Fueler
Shift: 2nd Shift-4pm Start Time
FLSA: Non Exempt
Locations: South Plainfield NJ, Southampton NJ.
The Fueler will report to our concrete plant and spend their shift fueling and inspecting concrete trucks and diesel equipment and when applicable assist in the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment. They will have a good working knowledge of tools, equipment. The nature of the work will require that the Fueler be able to spot problems associated with the equipment inspections. Fueler will demonstrate initiative, responsibility, have good interpersonal skills and be flexible/adaptive to a fast-paced and fluid business environment.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities
- Check oil, grease and fuel trucks and heavy equipment daily.
- Check coolant levels, transmission levels, hydraulic oil levels, & engine oil levels
- Fuel all equipment daily
- Power wash radiators
- Report any issues found to mechanic on duty
- Perform tire inspection and tire inflations on all equipment at location.
- Change tires.
- Assist the mechanic with preventative maintenance for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
- Assist the mechanic with driver write up’s
- Maintain a safe and professional working environment.
- Uses, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials, parts and other supplies.
- Maintain shop and work area in a clean and organized manner.
- Fill out fueling sheets with mileage and hours daily
- Prepare reports and records of time spent, materials, parts used and work completed.
- Complete work assignments in the allotted time frame
Qualifications
- Successful completion of training in automotive technology at an accredited school and/or the equivalent experience as a mechanic in the repair of motorized vehicles and equipment preferred
- Able to work second shift.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance and parts manuals, and other written instructions related to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, DOT as they apply to the operation preferred.
- Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership
Physical Demands
- Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
- Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
- Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
