Senior Accountant

This role will be based in West Austin for the initial settling-in period with a Hybrid schedule potentially to follow. You must be based in the Austin area.

Our client is a successful small business that is looking for a talented Accountant to lead the finance side of the business. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of their accounting records and financial reports and will manage and develop a small in-house team. Along with leading the efforts of the financial side of the business, your expertise will contribute to the development of business strategies, financial forecasts, and operational budgets.

This position is ideally suited to someone who understands the correct balance between enabling the business and making sure the finance side of the business runs smoothly and efficiently. It's crucial you are a strong communicator and can build working relationships with the different department heads.

What we want the person to come do

• Lead the Financial efforts across the business ( This is a hands-on role )
• Manage and lead the finance team in place to make sure they are on point and efficient in their work ( Nurture and develop too ) This will include HR too.
• Understand the business and develop Accounting strategies that enable the business to be successful.
• Translate Accountancy best practices and needs/wants into easy-to-understand plans for the business leads.
• Communication and the ability to build working relationships across the business are paramount.
• Understand the business needs to construct accurate and useful reporting ( what the business wants to see and revenue and expenditure trends…).
• Bring and implement ideas to make the business better ( Month End Close, analyzing trends, automating if appropriate, collaborating with management in the business, improving documentation used, how can we improve AP/AR and collections….basic customer management and communication, and again how can we develop the internal team.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a Senior or Lead Accounting position.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong skills with Excel.
• A solid understanding of GAAP
• Confident with different Accountancy Software ( NetSuite is currently used )

Bonus points:

• Any experience in accounting in a Production or Manufacturing environment is great.
• A notary would be a bonus
