Summary
The K12 Bid Analyst Manager is responsible for the execution of the bid strategy that supports Simplot’s growth and key business objectives for the K12 segment. This role will work closely with internal partners (Sales, Sales Solutions, Sales Planning, Program Admin, Marketing) as well as key industry contacts (USDA, SNA, ACDA, K12 districts and Co-Op’s, Distributors) to manage commodity processing and the commercial and commodity bid cycles and the associated, time-sensitive tasks. Additionally, they will be responsible for essential reporting, analytics, and business insights to assist leadership in making informed K12 business decisions. Provides day-to-day leadership to K12 Bid Analyst team members
Key Responsibilities
- Deep understanding of the federal rules and regulations attached to K-12 foodservice procurement
- Participate in annual planning sessions to guide the bid process, including pricing strategy, SEPDS, and finalizing target schools districts, distribution partners and focus categories, brands, and products
- Develop and maintain a bid reporting tool and process to communicate wins and key pricing insights to sales and leadership and provide forecasting insights to Demand Planning
- Ensure the K12 Bid Analysts are aligned with the blanket bids and annual pricing strategy
- Partner with the Sales Insights & Analytics Manager to develop and lead an Interflex K12 data reporting strategy to maximize our investment and provide actionable insights to sales during the bid process
- Accountable for receiving and managing incoming bid and pricing requests via a K12 shared inbox
- Interpret complex bid documents, collaborate with sales, implement bid pricing guidance, and assemble and submit supporting documentation per the required deadlines
- Work with State Departments to optimize and transfer commodity potato balances to ensure school districts have adequate potato pounds to process into Simplot finished pounds
- Leverage Processor Link to track and communicate commodity potato balances
- Oversee the Value Pass Through program, enter pricing for USDA brown box commodity bids and associated responsibilities and reporting requirements
- Track bid commitments and ensure that Simplot is in compliance with USDA requirements
- Act as an internal K12 advocate to ensure company decisions are made with the customer in mind
- Constant pursuit of ways to enhance the K12 bid process and collaboration with our K12 sales partners
- Serve as a K12 resource and transfer knowledge as requested by manager and cross-functional partners
- Build effective teams through recruitment, selection, coaching, development, training, and modeling effective management techniques. Establish accountability with and monitor progress of direct reports.
Typical Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

3 years related experience and/or training
