Description
Simpson College is seeking qualified candidates for a Full-time Academic Assistant in the Sociology & Criminal Justice and Teacher Education departments. This is a 10-month position (August - May).
Principal Duties
Manage office functions and provide assistance to the faculty of the Departments of Sociology & Criminal Justice and Teacher Education by organizing workload to comply with deadlines and priorities established by the faculty (includes typing syllabi, tests, memos, correspondence, reports and various routine forms from rough draft, making changes in grammar, punctuation and/or spelling as needed).
Perform related general departmental duties, such as maintaining files, scheduling appointments, coordinating departmental events, monitoring tests, photocopying, assembling and collating documents, and distributing mail and supplies, etc. for faculty in Wallace Hall.
Assist with coordination of student worker duties and work hours.
Coordinate Master of Arts Criminal Justice (MACJ) and Master of Education (MAT) projects.
Order office supplies, research various options for purchase for departmental functions and needs, and maintain accurate reports for each department in Wallace Hall.
Qualifications
Qualifications include, but are not limited to,
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge and ability to use various software and computer programs.
Strong relationship building, customer service, and communication skills
Detail oriented
Ability to work with frequent interruptions
Analytical skills necessary to maintain files, organization, and details.
An Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred
The successful candidate will have the ability to work as a team member as well as independently
