Job Summary

We seek a highly motivated and experienced Quality-Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team. In this dual-role position, the Quality-Continuous Improvement Engineer will ensure the highest level of product quality and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout our organization. This role is pivotal in enhancing product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Quality Engineering:

    • Conduct product quality assessments and inspections to identify defects and deviations from established quality standards.
    • Develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols to ensure consistent product quality.
    • Lead/collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve quality-related issues, including root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
    • Lead and facilitate the development of quality-related documentation, such as standard operating procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
    • Perform risk assessments and assist in the development of risk mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor and analyze quality metrics, providing regular reports to management noting trends, recommending areas of focus, improvement strategies, and potential standard work changes as examples.

 

Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancements utilizing observations (In-the-box, GEMBA, time studies, data analytics). Present observations in CI, Tier, or planning meetings as appropriate.
    • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to initiate, lead, and participate in improvement projects.
    • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement, presenting findings to the leadership team.
    • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement by developing/ providing training and coaching to employees.
    • Lead/Collaborate with various departments to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and optimize workflows.
    • Track and report on the progress and impact of continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Quality Assurance:

    • Assist in developing and maintaining the quality management system (QMS) in compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
    • Conduct internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies or customers.  Share findings with appropriate teams noting areas of focus for improvement or sustainment.
    • Ensure that all quality-related documentation and records are accurately maintained and accessible.
    • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes, updating processes and procedures accordingly.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on quality-related matters to all departments.
    • Serve as a liaison between the quality department and other functional areas to drive alignment and effective communication.

Other:

    • Comply with company policies and support company activities that improve competitive financial performance, regulatory compliance, and community acceptance.
    • Travel:  Some travel may be required (customers, suppliers, trade shows, etc)

 

Qualifications - Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven experience in quality engineering and continuous improvement roles within a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent) and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive projects to successful completion.

 

Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with quality-related software tools and systems.
  • Experience working in a Union environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary range is $75,000 - $85,000
