Assistant Athletic Trainer (Full-time)
Description:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in the health and welfare of all student-athletes competing in University intercollegiate athletics activities. This position provides evaluation, advisement and treatment to athletes recovering from injury, as well as assisting to educate athletes on avoiding injuries and how to maintain peak physical fitness. The Assistant Athletic Trainer actively works with all coaches to create and uphold a strong moral Christ-centered environment to assist student athletes in the development of high level ethical and moral standards. The Assistant Athletic Trainer provides coverage for team practices and games.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
- Must be certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
- Collegiate athletic training experience preferred
- Current Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) that meets the standards of the BOC required
- General proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
- Ability to serve as a strong Christian role model/mentor for student athletes and actively contribute in the spiritual development of athletes
- Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal, in the performance of job duties
- Self-starter, highly motivated and well-organized
- Ability to serve as a Christian role model/mentor for student-athletes
- Ability to oversee and direct student and contract labor as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Athletic Director

Essential Functions:
- Assist in the development of treatment and rehabilitation plans for student athlete injuries
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries
- Refer student athletes for special treatment to specialists as needed
- Follow up on injuries and maintain records of student-athletes’ injuries and treatments
- Assist in placing approved orders of training room equipment
- Attend athletic department meetings
- Manage the set-up of athletic training equipment for assigned athletic events
- Assist in organizing all pre-season sports physical exams
