Information Systems Support Developer / I.T. Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Information Systems Support Developer to join our team. The primary duties include ERP/SIS system administration and support, webapp, integration, and report/BI development, database administration and tier 2-3 support. This position may also supervise other staff to perform related duties. Excellent communication, problem solving, and project management skills are required. Occasional work outside of normal business hours is also required. Our ideal candidate has at least eight years of professional experience in system support development and an impressive portfolio of past work. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or industry equivalent, plus eight years of experience is required.
• Experience in MS SQL, JSON, JavaScript, and related web technologies are required.
• Experience with BI tools (such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik).
• Back-end development and DBA expertise.
• Experience with Ellucian Colleague administration and development tools and/or UniData/UniQuery is preferred.
• Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a team environment is required.
• Project management experience is preferred.
• Strong written documentation skills are required.

Essential Functions:

• Support the university’s ERP/SIS system
• Provide Tier 2-3 general IT support
• Extend and maintain the University’s data warehouse
• Build a data abstraction layer to serve the University’s reporting needs
• Develop and maintain Business Intelligence tools, dashboards, and reports for the University’s operations and administration
• Develop and maintain custom system integrations and web applications across a wide range of systems to support the University’s user experience using industry standard protocols and best practices
• Provide leadership for special projects and the University Data Council, which serves to develop standards and best practices for institutional data access and usage
• Project manage cross-departmental IT projects

Related Responsibilities:

• Coordinate IT tasks and responsibilities with other Simpson resources and third-party vendor partners
• Evaluate and recommend software development tools
• Respond to, and resolve Help Desk tickets as appropriate
• Provide occasional system administration for other designated servers
