The position of Academic Coordinator exists primarily to support and advance the Educational Talent Search (ETS) program’s objectives, which are funded by a grant. The coordinator organizes tutoring, supplemental instruction, and recommends appropriate courses to enhance the educational outcomes of ETS participants. The minimum salary for this position is $47,307 and is determined commensurate with experience.

Principal Accountabilities
ACADEMICADVISING
Provide strong customer service and student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, professionalism, strong problem solving, and desire to identify needs and foster student success.
Organize tutoring and supplemental instruction for students and maintain regular communication with after-school enrichment staff.
Recommend appropriate courses for Educational Talent Search (ETS) participants at target high schools, including dual enrollment options.
Monitor and evaluate student academic performance, retention, and persistence; identify areas for improvement and success, and devise necessary interventions. Develop data management strategies for tracking persistence and enrollment.
Create personalized academic success plans tailored to the individual needs of program students.
ADMINISTRATIVEFUNCTIONS
Utilize the Blumen database to create and maintain electronic records for newly enrolled students, document provided services, and track progress toward achieving grant performance objectives.
Coordinate the planning and logistics for program events, including room and technology setup, ordering supplies and food, making copies, and assembling event program booklets. Act as a chaperone for trips and college visits.
Regularly update and audit students’ physical and electronic files to ensure accuracy and consistency across records.
Collaborate in report development by collecting data from the ETS Coordinator/Advisor, compiling it in provided templates, and securing necessary approvals for report submission.
Support the Project Director by ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations; contribute to the completion of the Annual Performance Report and maintain ETS Program compliance.
Requirements
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, management, social work, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of specialization may be advantageous
A minimum of one year experience serving at-risk populations required
Strong customer service and advocacy skills, demonstrating a positive attitude, approachability, adaptability, and professionalism required
Excellent problem-solving skills to effectively address and meet student needs required
Robust organizational skills to handle multiple tasks such as event planning, record keeping, and compliance with educational standards required
Effective communication skills for interacting with students, parents, school and community partners, and other stakeholders required
Ability to operate standard office equipment and proficiency in using computer systems for data entry and database management required
Experience using Blumen database or similar educational databases to create and maintain records, document services provided, and monitor program objectives required
Experience in planning and managing logistics for educational events and programs required
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, particularly with students from disadvantaged, low-income, and underrepresented backgrounds required
Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in advising or coordinating programs for pre-college populations preferred
