What are the responsibilities and job description for the News Producer position at Sinclair Inc.?
WJAC has an immediate opening for Content/Broadcast Producer to oversee digital platforms as well as a news broadcast. The ideal candidate will produce a daily newscast while posting stories and videos to the web and social media. You will work closely with on-air talent as well as web producers.
Some additional responsibilities of our Executive Producer will include:
- Oversee daily newscasts to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, protect and empower our audiences
- Oversee and work with anchors, reporters, photographers and directors to create scripts, as well as create powerful storytelling
- Manage and handle breaking news situations to empower and grow our audiences, on broadcast and web
- Collaborate with the News Director and other managers to create rundowns and digital content
What skills do you need to be successful in our role?
- Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
- Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to identity problems and provide solutions
- A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
- Extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on cooperation
- Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic
- Minimum of 1 year of experience producing in a television news environment or equivalent
- A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
- Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
