Detailer II
:
Position Summary :
Under supervision from members of the Production and Quality teams, the Detailer III will meticulously clean and polish cars using a variety of cleaning products, tools, and techniques for both the interior and exterior of vehicles in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
Essential Functions :
Effectively and efficiently maintains vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning, correcting, and restoring interior (upholstery, compartments, windows, conditions vinyl and leather, etc.) and exterior (paint, finish, nickel plating trim, windows, wheels, tires, headlights, break lights, taillights, etc.) components of vehicles.
Inspects vehicles for stains, debris, and damage before returning the vehicle to the client.
Washes, dries, and details vehicles to prepare for customer delivery and/or for vehicle lot inventory.
Works closely with the production and quality leadership to ensure vehicles are ready for delivery, prior to client arrival.
Consistently ensures quality control in customer care and vehicle management procedures.
Polishes nickel-plating components (mirror housing, Targa hoop, dashboard, bumperette, wheel rims, trims, and molding, etc. inside the vehicle)
Works with Lead and Production Supervisor to ensure production demands meets the specified production schedule.
Inspects and assesses vehicles to determine whether it needs a minor paint repair, or a significant paint repair is required, then communicates the findings to the project production lead.
Can perform minor paint repairs, addressing issues such as scratches, chips, and door hinge paint damage.?
Effectively reports status of all paint repairs to paint finish production lead.?
Understands quality inspection reports for paint damage, can pinpoint specific damage areas on the vehicle, and assesses the necessity for paint repairs.
Works daily tasks lists set out by Lead/Production Supervisor
Reports daily vehicle build status to Lead/Production Supervisor
Performs operational procedure according to required engineering specifications.
Ensures workflow is tracked and on time through daily meetings
Cleans and polishes nickel plated and brass parts
Manages exchanging of parts with Material Management department
Performs basic car cleaning functions, e.g., removes dirt and debris from painted surfaces on interior/exterior of the car, wheels/wheel wells, windows, and engine bay before starting every job
Preps vehicle for vinyl installation
Works in a cross-functional team environment as a strong team player and demonstrates the ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals
Manages the inventory of cleaning supplies
Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
Assists other team members as necessary
Assists in special projects as required
Actively seeks out additional assignments during non-peak time frames
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications: :
Required Education/Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of experience with polishing nickel, brass, or other painted parts
Minimum five (5) years of detailing experience
Knowledgeable about detailing chemicals
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications :
Technical training in the automotive/motorcycle industry
Prior experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
Prior experience in rapid growth environment
Experience detailing luxury vehicles
Color Sanding/Wet Sanding
Skills/Abilities and Attributes :
Ability to polish to high gloss, remove swirl marks, light scratches, blemishes, and water spots
Ability to do a multi-step polish.
Ability to use a machine polisher (rotary or dual action)
Ability to use different polishing pads (foam, microfiber, wool)
Ability to read and understand work instructions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes.
Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
?Ability to color sand using various abrasives and cut and polish painted vehicles.?
Ability to mask prep and perform various paint repairs,?
Ability to use, and maintain paint guns, and painting equipment.

Physical Demands/Work Environment :
Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms to polish parts and clean cars
Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
Must be able to work an early schedule and work overtime when needed
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment
Compensation :
The starting pay range for this position is between $24.00 - $28.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
