Engineering Technician

:

Position Summary :
Under general supervision, the Engineering Technician: with the Singer team will play a crucial part in supporting the development of pre-production vehicles to ensure future products meet and exceed design specifications. You will work closely with engineers to validate processes, collect data, and analyze results to ensure performance, safety, and efficiency, in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

Essential Functions :

• Assist our Engineering Team in the design, development, and testing of automotive components and systems.

• Fabricate and build pre production vehicles to create and validate efficient assembly processes.

• Support creation of technical publications for all work instructions, system overview, parts, repair, labor, etc.

• Conduct experiments and tests using various automotive equipment and software tools.

• Install instrumentation, test equipment, and other components on prototype vehicles, in accordance with engineering specifications and standards.

• Analyze and interpret test data, diagnose issues, and propose solutions.

• Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to engineers and other departments.

• Maintain accurate records of test procedures, results, and observations.

• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment and tooling.

• Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and other team members.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience

• Associate Degree in a related field

• Minimum 2 year Technical or Automotive Technology Degree or ASE Certifications

• Automotive OEM Test Technician training and work experience

• 5 years of automotive, manufacturing, and/or prototyping environment

• Strong knowledge and understanding of all vehicle systems such as Suspension, Brake systems, Powertrain, Electrical, Chassis, and Interiors.

• Overall fabrication knowledge of prototyping including, metal fab, welding, drilling, riveting, and bonding various materials

• High-Level knowledge of Electrical systems, experience with trouble shooting and diagnosing issues as well as ability to build and repair motorsport grade harnesses.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Experience in programming and machine controls or electronics validation and testing

• OEM Certified Master Technician

• OEM Specific Technician Training

• Ability to creatively overhaul and re-design any project or workflow to optimize comprehension, while meeting requirements

• Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse co-workers and personalities in engineering, production, and management; ability to have insight into their changing needs

• Ability to quickly learn, absorb, and apply technical content to further develop understanding of assembly and testing processes

• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others

• Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines

• Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaborative skills with the ability to prioritize efficiently and effectively within and across departments

Physical Demands/Work Environment :

• Must be able to work in a seated position for extended periods

• Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods

• Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly, hear and be heard and understood in person, email and by telephone

• Must be able to work an early, non-standard schedule and long hours when needed

• Must be able to comprehend work instructions

• Must be able to work safely around a vehicle

• Must be able to work in awkward positions and tight spaces

• Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move with up to 10 lbs. of force?

• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly with occasional lifting of 50 lbs.?

• Must be able to work an early, non-standard schedule and work overtime when needed?

• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment

• Must be able to reach in and work safely in and around vehicles

• Must be able to work in a busy/fast-paced automotive shop environment

Compensation:
The starting pay range for this position is between $29 - 36 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
