How you’ll make an impact:
Lead and manage a team focused on the technical architecture and development of CDN solutions and strategies. Build engineering support for origin, mid-tier and edge appliances that are tasked to deliver high availability, resiliency, and performance in order to satisfy the demands of SiriusXM. The responsibilities include development of operational processes, managing vendor relationships, guiding technical projects, crafting architectural solutions and engaging with content partners on best practices and implementations around content caching and CDN engagement. As a growing organization the position demands excellent technical skills and knowledge coupled with strong leadership, planning, management, and communication skills.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and grow a team of high-performing engineers
- Operate an origin layer capable of storing content in public and private clouds
- Operate a software layer in support of origin/mid/edge
- Operate a code base that is responsible for content replication across a cache hierarchy
- Manage and coordinate deployments against global capacity plans
- Write technical specifications and drive conversation in the content caching space, focused around streaming media.
- This role will manage a geographically dispersed team.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience, in lieu of degree.
- 10 years leading platform or core engineering in a technical organization
- 7 years of managing teams, managing remote teams is a plus.
- Proven ability to recruit and retain world-class engineers.
- Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills; effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering.
- Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing.
- Expert with CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Development), cloud native development, public and private cloud capabilities, and Infrastructure and configuration as code.
- Has successfully managed multiple CDN vendors at scale
- Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
- Technical experience in the following areas:
- Cloud - AWS preferred
- Experience with caching infrastructure and CDNs (akamai, limelight, level 3, fastly, etc.)
- Experience with content replication at scale
- Coding - Java, Scala, Javascript, etc.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
