What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Trainer position at Sit Stay Fit?
Sit Stay Fit is looking for a motivated dog trainer. We offer a variety of dog training services, and use positive reinforcement based methods. Our clientele varies from working with young puppies to adult dogs in need of behavior modification. Position requires the ability to follow and/or create a set training plan for each individual dog, and work effectively with both client & dog. We are looking for an individual who is a self starter, and has excellent written & verbal skills. As we share clients, it is imperative to have good communication skills and be able to work effectively as a team. You must enjoy being active as we keep the dogs moving during training, often walking close to 10 miles in a day while taking a variety of outings in the community.
Our clients are located throughout the Portland Metro area, with some flexibility in schedule. At least occasional weekend or evening work is required, though we primarily are looking for M-F day work at this time. We are looking to hire someone to start 3/4 time for a 30 day probationary period in an assistant role. By the completion of the period, this position will move to a full time role and will be working independently.
Please provide a resume & cover letter. We will contact all qualified applicants with full details and to set up an interview. Applicants must have a current driver's license, have their own reliable vehicle capable of safely transporting client dogs and supply valid vehicle insurance. As per our insurance, applicants must be at least 26 years of age. You must be able to lift 50 pounds, and be comfortable on your feet most of the day with some of those hours walking. CPDT or test ready preferred.
