About the Role
As Assistant Controller, you will lead and facilitate accounting and related workflows across multiple systems. The work encompasses developing and maintaining accounting, financial, and reporting systems; working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value and continuously improve systems and processes.
Your responsibilities include leading and cultivating relationships with other Sitemetric areas and colleagues. We expect demonstration of an obsessive commitment to understanding customers' values, immediate and evolving needs, and preferences, to enable them to maximize success on each project and across their broader project portfolio and enterprise.
Overall, the role demands grit, perseverance, and an abundance mindset to navigate and excel in the perpetually challenging environments where we and our customers operate.
Key Responsibilities
This position works directly with senior Sitemetric leadership (CEO, President, Accounting, CTO, Operations, Customer Experience, Data, Brand), and across the entire organization. This role offers flexible work arrangements, allowing for work to be performed remotely or from a U.S.-based office located near Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Washington DC, or elsewhere.
Core responsibilities include:
1) Systems and processes:Proactively identify, develop, and implement accounting, financial, reporting, and other processes and procedures to support business growth and drive scalable tools and mechanisms to enhance customer value and experience.
2) Controls:Assess effectiveness of controls and design new effective processes and controls for emerging and rapidly growing business activities. Work with Operations and Technology teams to apply controls and procedures and integrate these with Sitemetric financials, reporting, and operational systems.
3) AR/AP and General Admin:Help all aspects of accounting for our projects nationwide, including AR, AP, invoicing, billing, reconciliations, payroll, reimbursable business expenses, and others. Carry out general administrative duties including providing/maintaining valid COIs for each project or customer, maintaining third-party billing portals, project close outs, new state registrations/licenses and others.
4) Third-party collaboration:Make high-velocity decisions and work with third-party accountants to keep projects moving and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing activities and preparation of financial statements. Work with tax consultants on preparation and filing of returns, quarterly/annual reports, and others.
5) Ad hoc responsibilities:Assist with ad-hoc or project-related responsibilities to support various departments on one-time and ongoing accounting-related needs.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- 3 to 5 years of related experience including roles in finance or accounting, with a strong preference for experience working in a technology company, a rapid-growth startup, or commercial construction within an ENR Top 400 General Contractor
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field from a top-tier university (Master's in Professional Accounting preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- CPA-eligible (CPA preferred)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Demonstrable past experience as a high-performing leader.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to communicate complex business issues and propose resolutions in a clear, concise manner.
- Adaptable, flexible, and able to solve complex challenges within and outside of accounting, using domain knowledge and communication/interpersonal skills.
- Innate drive to go beyond building buildings, to building an industry.
PREFERRED
- Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite), including development of highly scalable accounting systems and resource management strategies for fast-growing businesses
- Experience building and navigating relationships with workers, subcontractors, general contractors, and owners.
- Experience with Consolidating Entities
- Experience with Inventory and Manufacturing Accounting
- Experience with Public Company Financial Reporting (10K, 10Q etc.)
- Understanding of Capitalized Software Development Cost Accounting
- 3 years of accounting management experience navigating challenging cross-functional situations and challenges in a dynamic, fast-paced, complex organization/environment

Additional Information
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $130,000 to $190,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Sitemetric is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
