Position Overview
We are looking for a Control Products Category Manager to join our team! As a Category Manager at our SiteOne Landscape Supply, you will be responsible for managing an assigned group of products and supporting others.
You will be the one responsible for all aspects of the assigned product group, with an emphasis on organic growth.
Building strong relationships with field sales, who manage 600 branch locations, is critical to success for the Control Products Category Manager. It’s similarly important to develop strong relationships with vendor partners and other departments within SiteOne’s support center. A commercial mindset as well as an ability to interpret consumers' wants and needs and will also be part of your duties.
Category Manager duties and responsibilities:
- Research and analyze data and market insights
- Search for insights into consumer needs and wants at it pertains to the turf & ornamental market
- Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories, including making strong contributions to the larger category’s goals and strategy
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors
- Advise & ensure timely product availability for customers
- Strategize positioning of a product category in order to maximize its visibility
- Accountable for the on-going product life cycle management
- Maintain clear and open communications between internal and external stakeholders to focus on product strategy, relevance, profitability, and quality
- Lead cross functional teams that include marketing, supply chain, and finance amongst others
- Research competitors and suggest appropriate pricing and promotional activities
- Work with customers and merchandisers and find new ways of expanding product categories
- Support purchasing in calculating forecasts for product demand trends
- Utilize and/or implement the required product support tools and software
Skills We Are Seeking
Category Manager requirements:
- Previous working experience as category manager for 5+ years or related experience in T&O. B2B sales experience a plus
- A competitive and entrepreneurial spirit to solving business problems, self-driven to succeed
- A strongly curious personality who works well with a diverse spectrum of vendors, customer, and stakeholders
- Expertise & experience within category or brand management
- In-depth knowledge of marketing and sales operations and processes
- Leadership/Self-starting/out of the box thinking capabilities, strategic analysis, collaboration skills
- Analytical and critical thinker, customer focused and data driven
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- BA in business administration, agriculture, marketing, or similar relevant field
