General Responsibilities Skamania School District is recruiting for a Middle School Classroom & Resource Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position entails two primary roles within the Skamania School District. Firstly, as the half-time Resource teacher, responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) program for K-8 students, facilitating instruction for highly capable students, and working with targeted intervention groups. Secondly, as a half-time Middle School Teacher, the role involves providing full-time classroom teaching in a middle school (7-8) math and science classroom, focusing on establishing a safe and positive learning environment while delivering rigorous and engaging instruction. Salary: The full salary range is $49,906.00 - $86,894. Assignment: This is a 1.0 FTE. Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions: Resource Teacher Duties
  1. Delivering high quality instruction through project-based learning methods.
  2. Attending professional development and training related to STEAM, highly capable, and intervention programs and methodologies to stay abreast of current research.
  3. Employing a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
  4. Using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  5. Working directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives and curriculum.
  6. Organizing, developing, and coordinating special STEAM events/activities.
  7. Coaching teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.
  8. Designing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that are differentiated to support the advanced learning needs of gifted students.
  9. Providing intervention and support for students who require additional academic assistance, including targeted instruction and remediation.
Intermediate Grade Teacher Duties
  1. Establishing and clarifying acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrating effective classroom management skills.
  2. Monitoring students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment, handling social/emotional issues as they arise.
  3. Providing direct instruction to students in a regular classroom.
  4. Motivating and communicating with students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds.
  5. Incorporating relevant, rigorous, and challenging learning activities in daily lessons.
  6. Differentiating instruction based on student level.
  7. Attending and contributing to staff meetings, trainings, and IEP/504 meetings.
  8. Collaborating with other staff members in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives.
  9. Maintaining a cooperative attitude with leadership, staff, parents, and students.
  10. Actively participating in the MTSS process.
Other Functions
  1. Performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications:
  1. BA/BS or higher degree with a major in one of the following areas: Elementary Education, Physical Education, Curriculum, or a STEAM-related field.
  2. Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington State Teaching License, Emergency Substitute or Conditional Teaching license.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Hold and maintain an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Washington.
  2. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and State Instructional Standards.

  1. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
