What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Sourcing Manager position at SKF?
Purpose of Position
Execute & implement sourcing activities agreed by Global Category Managers/Buyers and by PL/BU Purchasing Managers or PL/BU Purchasing Group Managers in PL/BU projects that require new suppliers and/or involve new products/services or new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to work packages definition
- Contribute to deliver the planned project results & keep the time plan.
- Secure that supplier’s project plans are aligned with SKF project plans.
- Secure suppliers are selected & contracted in time.
- Manage the process of developing prototypes and testing pre-approval.
- Ensure SQA activities are performed at supplier locations; secure suppliers are PPAP approved to ensure zero defect from start.
- Prepare supplier entry & integration into OTD (on time delivery) process.
- Verify supply chain feasibility (supplier capabilities, availability, capacity, risk assessment and anticipation for both product, process & supply chain)
- Support the Global Category Manager or Buyer in sourcing and selecting suppliers for the project in line with cost and time targets.
- In the project frame, be in charge of the relationships with suppliers, anchored with the Global Category team
- Screen any potential suppliers through Global Trade Service Web Portal for sanctions, report any match against the Sanction Party Lists to Group Purchasing Contract & Compliance Manager and ensure that no business is conducted with confirmed sanctioned suppliers.
- Run their operations according to the SKF Code of Conduct, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), and Quality Policies, and work according to the SKF Quality Management System.
- If the operation is EHS certified, work according to the SKF EHS Management System.
Requirements:
- Willingness and the ability to travel frequently in USA.
- Bachelor’s degree within relevant area or equivalent working experience
- Demonstrated experience and results in purchasing, sales or manufacturing
- Project Management experience
- Experience from Direct Material purchasing, Manufacturing, or Business Development is a plus
Desired Skills:
- Skills and experience within Purchasing area are strong advantages for the positions.
- Important technical understanding
- Commercial- and negotiation experiences
- Good system knowledge and analytical skills
- Ability to understand a supply market
- Excellent negotiations skills
