ABOUT US:
Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a Colorado 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in
Colorado Springs founded in 1998 to provide respite and specialized care for children and
adults with disabilities and special needs. Various programs offer community support services
to families and are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout their
life span.
Scope:
The Host Home Program Director oversees the Host Home/Residential Services Department,
including recruitment of host home providers and clients; ensuring that the rights of the clients
are being met, implementing the regulatory and safety standards of the agency, the Division
for Individual Developmental Disabilities and the Community Center Boards. This position
directly supervises the Residential Services staff and reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure that all applicable standards as per Division of Intellectual and Developmental
Disabilities (DIDD) Rules and Regulations are implemented and audited on a regular
basis so that clients receive quality services.
- Receive & Review all residential services provider applications and clients’ referrals. Will
follow the agency policies and procedures to include Residential Program Nurse and
obtain all necessary admission documents. Program acceptance of future providers
and client referrals will have final approval of the Executive Director.
- Coordinates the implementation for Host Home provider training program per Division of
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) Rules and Regulations.
- Supervise Host Home Supervisors and Residential Nurse; to include ongoing auditing to
assure timelines for all assigned tasks are completed in a timely and professional
manner, and schedule Residential Services team meetings.
- Meet regularly with the Executive Director to address issues around program
management, needed updates on internal audit findings, operations/procedures, and
supervision of Residential Services Supervisors, regulations, and program marketing.
- Effectively communicating to the Executive Director critical incidents, concerns, and
needed policies/procedures.

- Develop and maintain professional relationships in the community, and increase
collaboration with other agencies and or businesses to enhance the overall program
growth to include attending monthly provider meetings.
- Conduct random monitoring visits according to the Host Home Supervisors Monitoring
Schedule to ensure monitoring’s are being completed and that there is a written follow
up plan to address any deficiencies identified and how the deficiencies will be
corrected. Ensure corrections are made in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and oversee the medical, dental, behavioral, psychiatric and other needed
services for the clients with the Residential Nurse and Host Home Supervisors.
- Work with the Host Home Department staff in overseeing and assuring that all
documentation regarding Health and Safety Assessment’s, Quarterly and Annual
Reports and Assessments, ISSP’s, BISSP’s Comprehensive Life Reviews, Functional Analysis
when needed, case notes and any other documentation necessary for HRC and/or IDT
team are fully completed and submitted to the appropriate individuals in a timely
manner. Will attend HRC review and HRC Liaison meetings.
- Oversee the handling of all incidents following the Agency’s reporting policies and
procedures and at all times taking into consideration of the health and safety of the
client’s, reporting critical incidents timely to the Executive Director.
- Ensure that each client’s Agency File is completed and up to date at all times. This
includes the Client’s Home Book which is located at the Host Home residence.
- In conjunction with the Host Home Program Coordinator, problem solve any
issues/concerns related to the IDT and/or Host Home Provider and ensure that
recommended actions are consistent with agency policies, procedures and protocols.
- Develop and maintain an emergency on-call response system for the clients in the host
home settings, working with the Host Home Supervisors, implementing the on-call
rotation.
- On a monthly basis, oversee the accuracy of Personal Needs Funds cash ledgers and
inventory, submit all necessary paperwork to the Finance Manager.
- Promote the Agency in the community and with agency events.
- Work with the Executive Director in the development and implementation of any
agency Policies and Procedures changes including any IDD and/or TRE regulatory
changes.
- May carry a small caseload when necessary
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree preferably in a Human Services field.
- Require a minimum of two years’ experience in serving individuals with developmental
disabilities as a Residential Services Supervisor.
- Prefer 1-2 year experience as a Host Home Coordinator or department team leader.

- CPR, First Aid & CPI, & Universal Precautions Certification within the first 30 days of hire.
- A valid driver’s license & current vehicle insurance, and an acceptable driving record
per SKSF standards.
SALARY: $60,000-$65,000/yr. DOE; full-time/exempt position
