Description
Primary Function
This is a technical position, requiring advanced knowledge of residential building energy codes and standards, company workflows, and company procedures to ensure projects are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable energy codes and various energy related aspects of a project’s participation in secondary programs.
This is a remote and hourly position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with technical training for new hires with thorough review of residential energy models produced by junior team members for accuracy
- Creating project summary and client option scenarios
- Provide guidance to team members creating project summary and client option scenarios
- Performing energy modeling and building simulations
- Preparing energy and green building assessment reports based on analytic findings which include detailed equipment specifications and cost savings analysis
- Identify and develop options for client projects to qualify for relevant incentive and sustainability programs
- Perform misc. tasks as requested by director supervisor
- Handling project communications with clients
- Provide projects with work as define at lower-level positions, not limited to:
- Thoroughly review architectural drawings (e.g. - Floor plan, elevations, cross-section, roof plan, foundation plan, floor assemblies, etc.)
- Input details into energy code compliance software
- Creating project summary and client option scenarios
- Generate energy reports as final deliverable
- Provide thoughtful and detailed residential plan check reviews/comment
- Technical positions are required to spend a minimum of 1% of there total work hours for the quarter on continuing education hours or cross training on other technical disciplines with the company as approved and scheduled with supervisor
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college (Preferred)
- GED/High School Diploma (Required)
- 4 years of work experience in residential energy modeling industry.
- Communications - Exhibits good listening and comprehension. Expresses ideas and thoughts in written form. Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally. Keeps others adequately informed. Selects and uses appropriate communication methods. Should communicate and work well with others within the energy services team, other internal teams, and external clients as well
- Uses time efficiently. Works in an organized manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Willingness to invest time in training seminars and classes.
- Dress in workman like manner
- Must be competent in performing all functions within the duties, roles & responsibilities listed below with minimal supervision. Can display the ability to follow directions as given, written and verbal
- Holds current Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) or any RESNET Certifications Residential or equivalent industry certifications
Machines, Tools, and Equipment
Computer software knowledge: use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook, Use of Modeling Software, CBECC, EPRO, Ekotrope, REMRate. Standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing and walking in an office setting. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Assistance may be requested for lifting more than 35 pounds.
Standard Work Hours
Normal business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm). This position may require more than 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends. Some work will be performed via telecommunications from home. Travel may be required. Vehicle travel on behalf of the company requires possession of a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and adequate auto insurance that meets the company’s compliance minimums.
