What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver position at Skyline | Transportation?
This is a fun and exciting position on our Transportation and Lifestyle teams. Operates a bus to transport Residents to and from destinations, ensuring a safe passage while providing exceptional customer service. When not driving, leads activities with Residents, assists with activity setups and other duties as assigned in the Activities department. May also occasionally sub in as a point-to-point driver.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Safely operates company vehicles to pick up, transport and return Residents to and from various locations.
- Completes daily pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, routine emergency exit inspections and follows other DOT-regulated requirements as required.
- Complies with state and local vehicle codes, regulations laws and company vehicle policies.
- Reports any and all vehicle accidents, injuries, property damage and related incidents to supervisor as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Monitors condition of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
- Interacts with residents, guests and staff in an atmosphere of hospitality.
- Assists with activities, including leading, coordinating and setting up/breaking down. Prints materials as needed and follows up with resident requests accordingly.
- Other duties include coordinating the pickup and delivery of Residents between various sites, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, picking up grocery items and as assigned.
- Responds to Resident inquiries, requests, and complaints relating to transportation services within scope of authority and refers unresolved matters to supervisor.

- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary in an organization having overlapping roles and responsibilities.
What you will need to succeed:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and external constituents.
- Basic computer skills, including accessing files and email.
- Sensitivity to the unique sensibilities of the senior demographic.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English and have previous successful work experience.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and instruction, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a team.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- Must be at least eighteen years of age.
- High School Graduate or GED preferred.
- Washington State Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement.
- Clean driving record with at least three years of driving experience.
- Previous experience and training in providing services to geriatric Residents preferred.
