What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Technician position at Skylls Solutions?
Responsible for all testing, training, and reporting requirements for the regulatory agencies
of OSHA, DOT, and associated laws concerning E.P.A and MDNR: and to ensure compliance
with Company Policy regarding those agencies.
Working Procedure or Responsibilities Assigned:

OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.)
The Safety Technician, with the guidance & supervision from the Environmental & Safety Specialist shall:
Oversee the adequacy of the Company job safety cards; personal protective equipment program;
first aid responders; respiratory and pulmonary program and all the associated training there in required.
Review all incidences concerning occupational health and safety that otherwise result in worker's
compensation claims and oversee the generation of the required documentation and reports.
Complete workmen compensation reports and provide direction for proper medical care for
injured employees using our workmen compensation provider as required.
Conduct monthly safety audits and review findings with area Supervisors, General Manager, Production manager. Assist in correcting improper findings.
Ensure employee monitoring and area surveillance for occupational health hazards. Subcontract
facility safety/hygiene monitoring such as but not limited to noise, air emissions and water etc...
Develop, manage, coordinate, and maintain occupational health programs and train all personnel.
Coordinate the training of the first aid responders, manage the first aid room
and first aid supplies inventory and investigate all incidences.
Develop all required training programs to ensure compliance to O.S.H.A. regulations, and train the
necessary employees in those programs.
Assist in the safety orientation and training of all new employees.
Generate all reports, labels, and manifests, as required by D.O.T.
Shall acquire and maintain all required certifications as a qualified instructor, and remain current
in knowledge of hazardous communications, fork truck operation, ergonomics, lockout/tagout,
confined space, etc., as applies to D.O.T. , E.P.A., M.D.N.R., O.S.H.A.
Observe Company code of conduct, safety and quality principles that must be the top priority at
all times.
Establish, coordinate & maintain Lockout Tagout procedures in accordance to OSHA Standards.
Serve as Chairperson on the safety committee.
Assist with current projects as needed.
Nature and Frequency of Contacts:
Will serve as liaison for Company with all regulatory agencies such as OSHA, DOT, MDNR, and EPA.
Will work with and train both hourly and salary employees on safety compliance issues.
Special Skills or Experience Required:
An Associates Degree in Industrial Engineering or Occupational/Industrial Safety/Hygiene or the equivalent, with
two (2) or more years experience in an industrial setting, or progressive experience in Safety and
environmental with the metal working industry.
Working knowledge of I.S.O. requirements.
