Certified Machinist

Reporting to the maintenance supervisor, the machinist will be a key member of our maintenance team.  The individual will support the site with the safe and reliable repair of process equipment in the mill.  

Responsibilities include:

• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
• Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines while applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• Equipment Maintenance - Help to maintain and repair process equipment by carrying out preparations and aiding the other trade groups in the execution of work. Will require work in the mill.
• Ensure that work is carried out to the required quality standards to ensure adherence to external regulatory codes.
• Precision Equipment Utilization – Interpret and use precision measuring equipment/instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
• Instructions and Drawings – Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances including limits and fit functions.
• Proficient with Imperial and Metric dimensioning systems
• Participating with others in the trade groups in identifying and implementing improvements to streamline work practices and procedures.

 Qualifications:

• Journeyperson Machinist Certificate is a requirement.
• Previous industrial site experience, including operating machining equipment.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License is a requirement.
• Minimum 5 years related experience.
• Proficient in the fine tuning of machining parameters
• Exemplary organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
