Certified Machinist
Reporting to the maintenance supervisor, the machinist will be a key member of our maintenance team. The individual will support the site with the safe and reliable repair of process equipment in the mill.
Responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
- Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines while applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance - Help to maintain and repair process equipment by carrying out preparations and aiding the other trade groups in the execution of work. Will require work in the mill.
- Ensure that work is carried out to the required quality standards to ensure adherence to external regulatory codes.
- Precision Equipment Utilization – Interpret and use precision measuring equipment/instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
- Instructions and Drawings – Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances including limits and fit functions.
- Proficient with Imperial and Metric dimensioning systems
- Participating with others in the trade groups in identifying and implementing improvements to streamline work practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Machinist Certificate is a requirement.
- Previous industrial site experience, including operating machining equipment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is a requirement.
- Minimum 5 years related experience.
- Proficient in the fine tuning of machining parameters
- Exemplary organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
