Position Summary:
 
This person will serve as part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competency, reliability in delivering mission critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. Qualified systems engineer applicants will have a strong background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis. The goals of improving customer service delivery, quality, increase revenue generation, and reduce costs. The position requires the application of infrastructure design and firsthand application of varied technologies to include but not limited to networking, server virtualization, cloud, security best practices, monitoring, and reporting to deliver committed measurable results.

Essential Functions:

· Ability to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.

· Oversight of infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.

· Ability to see potential issues and proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure accessibility.

· Monitor and test performance of applications, foreseeing potential bottlenecks and identifying viable solutions.

· Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies.

· Competency in writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention.

· Desire to collaborate with the team to help design information and operational support systems.

· Consistently and successfully provide 2nd and 3rd level support.

· Excellence in communication as a liaison with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues.

· Support the development and implementation of various network, storage and compute components. Into a comprehensive solution in support of the core business needs.

· Support the development and use of automation systems in order to achieve information delivery on time every time.

· Lead or facilitate cross functional project teams that may include contract personnel.

· Develop and maintain a good understanding of the organization’s Application and Data Services systems and processes.

· Solve routine and unusual problems and provide feedback to internal users and customers.

· Participate in continuous process improvement efforts, improving and optimizing workflows and supporting documentation disciplines for processes and procedures.

· Be available for nighttime and weekend work on an emergency or as needed basis.

· Document all activities in the enterprise in support of design, implementation, or modification of systems to a knowledge base of system documentation.

· Perform all other tasks as assigned by management.

· Experience with Cloud Based computing and integration of on premises compute resources with a cloud-based environment.

· Strong knowledge and demonstrable use of various shell scripting systems such as PowerShell and Bash.

Minimum Experience & Education Qualifications:

· 2 years’ experience in technology system support in a large IT or Data Center environment.

· BS/BA in information technology, computer science, information systems management, engineering or equivalent experience.

· In depth knowledge of Windows Server, Linux Servers, HyperV and VMware Hypervisors, HP and DELL hardware server systems, server OS and hardware configuration tuning, Cisco, Junos and Palo Alto network devices as well as HP Blade Storage, NetApp and VMware VSAN storage systems.

· Familiarity with and adherence to modern Security Principals and Practices.

· Familiarity with Disaster Recovery Principals and Implementations.

· Working project management skills.

· Knowledge of various auditable compliance programs such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA and SOC.

· Demonstrable knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, etc.

· Working knowledge of enterprise systems processes of Change Control, System Design and Implementation, Documentation and Security.

· Proven working experience in the above fields including installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux (Ubuntu & Centos) based environments.

· Evidence of experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks.

· Evidence of experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).

· Proven ability to monitor systems successfully and efficiently.

· Strong networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).

 

Location/Travel:

 

· Work is in the office in Kennesaw, GA or remote.

· Required Travel: Possible international travel.

Computer Software/Hardware Knowledge:

· Advanced Microsoft Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint

· Outlook Exchange

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

· Must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time, talking & hearing constantly.

· Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

· Must be able to sit in front of computer monitor(s) daily.

· Noise level: moderate noise level daily in an office atmosphere
