Small production bakery seeks skilled hands & attentive mind.
We make varied and various breads and pastries for wholesale and the farmers market - all hand crafted & naturally leavened, using local flour and fresh milled grains, focusing heavily on seasonality. We are dedicated to our craft and doing well by each other and our community.
Our process requires patience & time, attention to detail, focus, and a certain physicality. Everyone works in all aspects of production - mixing, shaping, baking, pastry & bread, packing, cleaning, delivery.
If working the exact same shift doing the exact same thing every day is your thing, this job's not for you. If you can handle a couple early mornings, like variations on a theme without pure repetition, and having a lot of daytime hours to get outside, it may well be.
Directly relevant experience is preferred (e.g., naturally leavened baking with regional grains), and general food service/fermentation experience is a plus. But humility, desire to learn a craft, and bringing the energy to do so are even more important, so if you don't have baking experience but are enthusiastic to get into it, get in touch!
Starting pay is determined by proven relevant experience/competence, and raises come as quickly as you progress.
N.B. This job can function very well as an apprenticeship for those without experience, and there is also scope for part time hours for the right person.
