Position: Buyer
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
This position requires judgement, ingenuity, critical thinking and adherence to established policies and procedures. Also coordinates on-time delivery of goods, with the ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, work in a team environment and meet deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilties:
- Creation of daily vendor purchase orders and required transfers between facilities
- Resolve stock receipt and vendor invoice discrepancies
- Ensure inventory planning parameters and service levels are maintained
- Arrange freight and track orders to ensure timely delivery
- Communicates and coordinates with sales, customer service and operations to assist with customer needs
- Monitors price changes and special buy opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Intermediate MS Office Skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Proficient in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
- Excellent organizational, documentation and follow-up skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy, fast paced environment
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
· Knowledge of lean inventory control principles
