General Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for field checking of bus service to determine on-time performance, load counts and driver performance. The incumbent also performs special assignments such as coordinating charter movements, new routes and other related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors on road coach operation to assure schedule adherence, load counts and driver performance.
- Conducts on-site accident investigations and provides assistance as required. Prepares accident reports for supervisory review.
- Contacts police departments to obtain written accident reports.
- Provides assistance to coach operator and passengers in the event of service disruption due to equipment failure or accidents.
- Instructs and directs coach operators in performance of on-road job responsibilities.
- Investigates proposed bus route changes and makes recommendations for service improvement as required.
- Assists in supervision of coach operators during special events passenger movement.
- Recommends disciplinary action as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two (2) years experience in scheduling, driving, customer service or dispatching, or two years supervisory experience.

- Minimal typewriting ability.
- Ability to exercise sound and quick judgment in solving problems.
- Basic mechanical aptitude desirable.
- A valid Michigan Driver’s License is required.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with proper endorsements within thirty (30) days of appointment.. Knowledge of basic geography of transit service area is required.
