What does a CSS Field Service Technician do?

 

The CSS Smart Squad Technician will travel to the customer's home to complete the Smart System Installation of supported products and offerings and provide technical advice to customers.


Supported Products and Offerings

  • Consolidated Smart Internet Service
  • DirecTV High-Definition Television Service
  • PC Support
  • Future Offerings
  • Mounting Televisions

They work remotely with minimal supervision and are expected to be ready to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Travel to the customer's home to Install/Upgrade/Service supported products
  • Troubleshoot and test supported products to identify problems
  • Explain procedures/costs and schedule follow up calls if needed
  • Diagnose and repair supported products using schematics along with either test equipment or electronic meters
  • Provide customers with education solutions. Instruct customers on operation and maintenance of their products
  • Provide customers information on the wide variety of CSS products and upgrades
  • Communicate with customers and dispatch to verify and arrange routes
  • Processing transactions related to in-home repairs--collecting payments, issuing receipts
  • Accurately record product, client and entitlement data for the work order

 Secondary Responsibilities

  • Complete administrative duties including
    • Ordering parts
    • Scheduling and communicating with dispatch
    • Electronically sending repair records to the service center
  • Maintain company-owned vehicle, laptop, cell phone, test equipment, parts and tools

 

What are the Professional Requirements of a CSS Field Service Technician? 

Basic Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
21 years of age or more Valid driver's license in the state where you are applying
No more than 2 moving traffic violations (1 preventable accident) during the past 3 years
No DUI conviction in a commercial vehicle during the past 10 years
Lift or maneuver 75 lb. with or without reasonable accommodation

 

Preferred requirements

 

1-2 years in a customer service related field

Experience working with/installing Audio/Visual equipment

General Construction experience

Working knowledge of PC and/or MAC devices

Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs – Outlook and Excel especially

Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Scheduled hours and Pay

 

This job will require varied shifts and hours inclusive of weekends and holidays.  Pay commensurate with experience and education.
