About the Role 

As our first hire as an Insurance Agent, you will be responsible for executing the day-to-day sales and servicing of the insurance agency. You will execute on processes that have been defined to support organizational goals.  In this role, you will be the face of SmartHop to customers and will need to provide feedback on all implemented processes. You will be the primary owner of executing new business strategy and cross-selling current Dispatch clients. 

Location: NYC or Florida preferred.

Key responsibilities of this role will be: 

  • Solicit new business by phone and in-person visits with prospects
  • Collect/process information necessary for underwriting
  • Provide service to clients by phone, e-mail
  • Revise, develop and implement marketing strategies
  • Collect premiums from clients
  • Engage in activities to increase insurance knowledge and maintain licensing (seminars, webinars, etc.)
  • Identify and call prospects to generate leads, give and explain product information.
  • Quote with multiple insurance companies, Prepare Formal Proposals, complete orders, answer to prospects' inquiries, and update customer databases
  • As a member of our Team, you will work with multiple carriers in multiple states. It will be Producers Responsibility to thoroughly understand and follow all underwriting and rating plans
  • Gather all required signatures and Payments Prior to requesting Binding
  • Data Entry into Management System
  • Handle daily communications with new and existing clients. Including but not limited to Certificates, Policy Changes, Quotes, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What the Candidate Will Need 

  • Valid P&C insurance license
  • 2 years insurance experience with a strong focus on agency operations
  • Experience in insurance sales and servicing
  • Experience managing multiple projects/sales at once, with external stakeholders,  track record of translating customer needs into product solutions
  • Experience in transportation insurance and placing commercial auto / cargo is a plus.
