Smart Talent is seeking a QA Specialist for a Food Production company in Woodinville. Ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in Food Manufacturing, and a Bachelor’s in Food Science or related field. HACCP certification along with SQF and PCQI certifications highly desired. The QA Specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing manufacturing, procedural and analytical testing processes as they relate to product quality to ensure quality and food safety standards are met.
This is a Direct Hire position paying between $31-$36 an hour DOE. Benefits include Health, Disability, 401k, PTO, Holidays and more!
Shift: Day shift – Mon – Fri 7am start time
Essential Functions:
· Perform daily QMS (Quality Management System) checks to ensure operational controls are effective, and recommend improvement needs
· Administer policies and procedures and carries out personnel objectives and programs within the Quality Assurance department
· Regularly evaluate Quality Standards and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure compliance, accuracy and effectiveness, and recommend improvement needs
· Oversee material and product testing programs to ensure compliance, accuracy and effectiveness
· Lead monthly internal quality and food safety audits, report on results/trends, and drive corrective actions/improvements
· Assists QA Manager in the investigation of all Quality Complaints. Implements actions based on findings when applicable.
· Support development and implementation of new quality and food safety programs
· Performs sensory evaluation on raw materials and finished product.
· Regular reporting of measures that communicate process outputs relative to Quality metrics and customer requirements/specifications.
· Monitor defined checks/tests for ensuring product conformance before product is released out of site control (positive release)
· Approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
· Backs up SQF Practitioner and certified HAACP representative.
· Oversee the Hold Management process, including isolation, reporting and disposition
· Support/drive root cause and CAPA activities and publish progress reports
· Monitor analytical test equipment to ensure accurate performance
· Gather and analyze quality data for statistical analysis to identify areas of improvement
· Perform Daily, Weekly, Monthly and/or annually validation and Food Safety routine check

Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related field
· Minimum 5 Years QA Experience in Food Manufacturing Industry with extensive knowledge in HACCP
· HACCP certification preferred
· SQF practitioner and PCQI certification preferred
· Knowledge of acidified food processing is preferred
