What You'll Contribute The Manager, Data Governance will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective data governance practices and processes within our organization with a focus on data quality. What You'll Do Description % of Time Spent • Establish and maintain data quality profiles and business quality rules, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across systems and platforms. • Lead efforts to identify and resolve data-related issues, such as data quality problems, data lineage and metadata management. • Define and monitor data governance and data quality key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and maturity of data quality initiatives. • Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and understanding of data quality principles and practices across the organization. • Act as a subject matter expert on data quality matters, providing guidance, support, and advice to stakeholders across the organization. • Adhere to best practices in data analysis and collection, keeping abreast of developments and trends in data quality analysis. What You Have Minimum: Indicate minimum education, skills and experience required. • Knowledge of data governance principles, best practices, and industry standards. • Proficiency in eliciting, translating and implementing business requirements. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve data-related issues. • Experience assessing and validating data, addressing inconsistencies and inaccuracies, to ensure it meets quality standards and supports business objectives. • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and manage cross-functional initiatives. • Curiosity and drive to ensure Sallie Mae’s data is managed as a strategic asset. Preferred: Indicate “nice to haves” regarding education, skills, and experience. • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or a related field. • 3-5 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, data analysis, business analysis or related role. • Experience with Informatica Data Profiling, Informatica Data Quality, SQL, Snowflake, analytics software, or similar tools.
