Project Safety Technician

About the Role

SMC is seeking a self-starter to join our Safety Services team as a Project Safety Technician based in Springfield, MO. This role will be responsible for supporting and building our safety services business through account generation and increasing existing account penetration. We are looking for someone with a passion for safety and a desire to help drive safety service sales using lead generation, scheduled appointments, and solution selling support of safety products and services. This is an office-based position that includes 60% to 70% travel throughout Missouri and Kansas.

Responsibilities of the Project Safety Technician

• Makes sales calls with sales representatives, contacting customers, and making sales presentations
• Participates in the development of customer proposals for identified sales opportunities
• Responsible for maintaining and assisting profitable sales growth for safety products and services
• Performs training for customers and sales representatives on all aspects for safety products and services focusing on product and service knowledge and sales techniques
• Develop and implement plans to expand safety product and service business presence. Shares market and competitor information with all applicable channels within the organization; establishes relationships and working partnerships
• Oversee the tracking and completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, and evaluating results
• Resolves issues for customers and sales representatives in assigned region
• Attends trade shows related to safety industry products and services. Attends business meetings for all company-involved associations relating to safety
• Average weekly travel of 60% to 70% throughout SMC selling footprint
• Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
• Independently perform assignments with limited instruction and direction

Preferred Education/Experience of the Project Safety Technician

• BS/BA in a related discipline
• 3 - 5 years of experience in a safety, electrical, facilities, or maintenance role
• Experience with specific company safety products and services
• Industry safety certifications are preferred

Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
