Position Scope and Purpose:
The Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned staff, in a manufacturing environment, to ensure product conformance to customer specifications and scheduled delivery dates, ensuring the quality, production, scrap, safety, and cost efficiency for the shift. The primary responsibilities include plan and assign work, implement and enforce policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Responsible for safety/ quality/efficiency/cost and production team output. Rotating 12 hour shift from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Key Accountabilities / Essential Functions:
- Directly supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of assigned staff to ensure product conformance to customer specifications and scheduled delivery dates, ensuring the quality, production, scrap, safety, and cost efficiency for the shift.
- Study production schedules and determine machine utilization and capacity constraints for completion of job assignments. Make recommendations for tooling, fixtures, automation, or any other support to help ensure production’s success.
- Assign production work schedules and ensure the training of employees in work methods and procedures.
- Manage issues related to employee attendance, performance, discipline, termination and staffing. Provide employee coaching and development to increase subordinates’ skills and capabilities. Supervise and coordinate activities of employees while maintaining daily and monthly quotas, assuring the highest levels of quality and efficiency.
- Regular attendance.
Other Position Duties:
- Ensure database input and specifications stay current, including production records database transactions, all safety requirements, as well as any other state/federal and regulatory requirements.
- Work with other supervisors/managers to troubleshoot and resolve process/equipment problems. Implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, working conditions (safety, quality, productivity) and cost effectiveness.
- Adhere to operations schedule with other supervisors, scheduler and production manager.
- Work closely with quality, scheduling, tool room, maintenance, customer service and various other departments to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications and delivery times.
- Responsible for maintaining manpower within assigned shifts at authorized levels. Re-assign employees as needed to eliminate unfavorable labor variances.
- Responsible for training, mentoring, developing a strong team. Ability to develop and manage the growth needed to meet SMC’s growing demands.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required & higher training to include Technical or College level specific course work.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the injection molding plastics or liquid injection molding industry preferred.
- Effectively teach and apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to coordinate work flow, oversee company and customer quality requirements, prioritize company goals and objectives, and support other supervisors as needed.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of injection molding, LIM, tooling, processing, assembly and materials. Knowledge of molding machine setup, operating techniques, assembly and production machining methods. Adjust, set and troubleshoot production equipment as necessary.
- Working knowledge of secondary equipment, including robotics, and pad printing.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team player; and the ability to develop and maintain a team atmosphere. Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff and management.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO, GMP and OSHA standards.
- Proficient in the use of IQMS.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
