Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality dental care to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the dentist during procedures, ensuring infection control protocols are followed, and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including but not limited to restorative, endodontic, periodontal, and oral surgery procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available
- Take dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Perform dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records
- Follow infection control protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Take and record vital signs of patients as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring supplies and placing orders as necessary
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent work experience
- Current CPR and x-ray certification
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Proficiency in taking dental x-rays
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic technique
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a pediatric dental setting
- Familiarity with dental practice management systems
