Automotive / Marine Service Manager

Smith Boys, a privately-owned boat dealership and service facility on Chautauqua Lake, N.Y. is looking for a Service Manager / Service Writer, who is a leader, to join our team. This position requires the applicant to be outgoing, friendly, detailed and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment. The ideal applicant should have knowledge of marine or automotive service department procedures and familiarity of boats and related marine products is helpful.

Smith Boys is a family owned, well established boat service and sales dealership. We sell Sea Ray boats, Crownline boats, Starcraft Fiberglass Deck boats and Pontoons, Berkshire Pontoon boats, Malibu and Axis Ski boats as well as a wide assortment of pre-owned boats.

Work Hours: More hours during our boating season (spring/summer/early fall) , winter are reduced hours.

Responsibilities of the Service Manager / Service Writer

• Respond to in-person, telephone and electronic mail requests from customers for service, warranty and other marine related issues.
• Open and close work orders for customer requested service
• Parts department stocking, ordering and inventory maintenance.
• Process and / or oversee customer requests for summer dock rental, winter storage and service.
• Process and / or oversee the submitting of manufacturer warranty claims.
• Process, monitor and coordinate manufacturer service bulletins and recall service directives.
• Over see the staff of technicians and other support personnel, including scheduling and hiring.

Skills and Qualifications Desired for the Service Manager / Advisor:

• Knowledge of Windows based computers and software.
• Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Operation of general office equipment
• Multi-tasking (ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously)
• Prioritization, and the ability to adjust work as the need arises.
• Boats and marine environment knowledge would be very helpful.
• Knowledge of automotive or marine service department operations.

Salary:

This is a full-time position. The rate of pay is dependent upon the level of experience, education and knowledge the applicant has.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
