Smith Precision Products company was established in 1938 and manufactures liquefied gas pumps and accessories for a variety of industries including propane, industrial gases, and dielectric heat transfer fluids used for cooking/heating homes, welding/food packaging, and testing for the aerospace industries to name a few. Smith Precision Products also manufactures chemical/fertilizer injectors for the greenhouse/agriculture industry.
We are looking for a competent CNC Operator trainee to use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. This position would be perfect for those who are currently enrolled in taking CNC machining classes or have completed this recently.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Operate CNC Mills (Matsuura) and single/dual-spindle Lathes (Doosan, Mori Seiki, Hardinge) Machines
- Operate gear hobbers and OD CNC grinder
- Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
- Operate manual drill presses, lathes, mills and lathes when needed
- Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
- ISO 9001 quality control training provided
- Forklift training if applicable
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of experience is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of machine set-ups preferred, but not required.
- Must know how to use inspection equipment (micrometers, depth mics, calipers, etc.)
- Mechanical knowledge of tools, machines and required maintenance
- Attention to detail
- Strict adherence to quality and attendance
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide on the job training to new employees
- Assist machinists in repairs
