Core Responsibilities
Production employees at Smithfield handle materials and use hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment to help deliver good food responsibly to America's dinner table. Production team members at Smithfield perform physically demanding work that requires good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, strength and stamina. Team members must be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands.
The Amour Innox Operators and Crew Leads are in charge of all cook and chill operations from loading to unloading product on the RTE side of the plant. Employees must fill out all paperwork completely and correctly. Amour Innox cook and chill system including all cook tanks, conveyors, cranes, molds, mold washers, sensors, computers, communication radios, remote controls, lock out / tag out locks, understanding the MES system.

Applicants must be willing and able to:
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Have excellent communication and math skills.
General operation of the Amour Innox system and its components
Monitor and operate all cook tanks to make sure they are in proper cooking phases and stock tanks and cook tanks are at the correct temperatures (ambient and internal probe).
Need good computer skills with excel, e-mail, and Thermix PLC computer.
Ensure that all cooking computers are operating properly. Learn how to load and unload cook tanks.
Changing out demolding heads. Check all sensors daily during pre-operation.
Verify that Duo-stocks are checked for the correct amount of molds in each stack and that no molds have been mixed up or off the mold leg pads.
Verify scales are reading the proper tare weights (-730 log and-495 VA loaf).
Calibrate probes and verify they are reading the proper calibration temperatures (display and internal) and document any differences. Check all probes (Internal core and ambient) and wires for physical damage and replace if needed.
Ability to push trees up to 3200# and operate the MES computer system.
HACCP, GMP, SSOP, Pre-operation, Lock/Tag/Try LOTO training.
Work with clean up and sanitation chemicals as needed.
Any other jobs as needed.
Perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift
Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts
Work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/orwarm areas (over 100 degrees)
Work in an environment that is wet and humid
Work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes
Work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE)
Work around strong smells/odors
Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms
Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift
Walk long distances
This position requires the ability to anticipate problems as well as troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions. The ability to multi-task is strongly desired. As crewlead in the Armor Inox Department, it is expected that the candidate understand all jobs in AI and be able to perform those jobs if needed. Must have and maintain a good attendance record and must not have obtained excessive tardies.
