What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Installer (2136) position at SMX?
SMX is looking for a Network Installer to join our team. This role works onsite in California, MD.
The Network Installer installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs cable infrastructure including Copper and Fiber cable for Networks, AV/VTC Systems, Electronic Security Systems. The Network Installer may also assist with the integration of digital switching equipment, racks and miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and computer data circuits and related apparatus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install fiber optic cable at various locations of Category 5e, Category 6, Multi-Pair Backbone Copper Cable and Fiber Optic Structured Cable
- Install or maintain existing fire stopping systems in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations.
- Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
- Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance Required: Secret
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience terminating fiber & copper infrastructure
- Experience with infrastructure installation or network infrastructure support
- Diagnose and correct copper/fiber issues
- Ability to follow specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment
Desired Qualifications:
- BICSI Installer 2 Fiber or Copper, Industry manufacturer certifications, OSHA10 safety certification
- AV Installations Certification
- Electronic Security System Certification (Lenel, AMAG, DMP)
- Experience finishing drywall and other light construction tasks necessary to complete installations of electronics equipment.
