This role serves as an Information Technology Specialist in the Plans and Projects Section with Administration and Resources Management Division, Information Systems Management Branch with primary responsibility to plan, develop, manage, advise, configure, administer, monitor, install and maintain all installation data communications infrastructures on various U.S. Government Installations supporting the U.S. Marine Corps.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Performs on-site site survey/analysis of local, campus, and wide area network architectures and systems to determine reliability, maintainability, safety, conformance with human factors, engineering principles, and to ensure they satisfy user and mission requirements. Recommends appropriate modifications/upgrades to equipment and/or configurations based on performance monitoring parameters, site peculiarities or operational requirements.
- Manages the Unclassified But Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) transport extensions with the responsibility to provide the network with local site assistance/troubleshooting in case of any hardware failure or circuit degradation or outages.
- Manages HQMC secure facilities as local point of contact with the responsibility to identify, define, review, evaluate, validate, integrate, coordinate, plan and support HQMC user requirements within the facility with local mission partners and base command elements.
- Plans and conducts studies to identify, define, review, evaluate, validate, integrate, and prioritize requirements for installation and integration of network and data communications interface requirements, while ensuring ADPE and network security requirements are adhered to.
- Manages current and future ADPE facilities including development of physical plant specifications, equipment layout and related support planning such as electrical, air conditioning, cabling, security requirements, and telecommunications interfaces.
- Develops plans and procedures for integrating data communications systems and network equipment operations, maintenance and security into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Reviews procedures, regulations, and directives proposed by higher authority concerning equipment management and network operations for impact and required changes at the local level.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance required: Secret
- This position requires extensive knowledge of Information Technology (IT) concepts, principles, and practices to accomplish work processes through the use of IT devices, methods, services, electronic monitoring tools and facilities.
- Requires knowledge of local policy and well as policies of agencies world wide in order to define, coordinate, plan, and satisfy user requirements for IT equipment and systems.
- 3-5 years experience
- Security certification
