Role Description:

In the role of Public Entity Underwriting Director (internally known as, Director - Public Entity Underwriting), you will be part of a collaborative team which focuses on delivering exceptional client experiences and results. You will work closely with brokers, risk managers, the business development, and more. Your contributions of underwriting new and renewal multi-line large retention accounts, for your assigned territory will help generate revenue and contribute to the bottom and top line company goals, and will be felt throughout Safety National.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Public Entity Underwriting Director will include applying Safety National’s established underwriting standards, policies and treaties to assess, accept or deny risks. You may also be assigned various projects like, analyzing accounts, determining policy terms and conditions, or working closely other departments such as, Claims or Legal to review contracts and agreements, governmental regulation, or compliance issues.

The ideal candidate is someone who collaborates well with others and has extensive commercial insurance experience, including within the Public Entity domain. Some of the essentials skills required of you in this role are, relationship management, attention to detail, negotiation, and strong analytical and critical thinking. Prior experience reviewing loss control reports, annual financial statements and claim files to evaluate and determine risk is required

Required Qualifications:

• 5 or more years of related experience
• Prior commercial insurance underwriting experience
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Effective communication and collaboration skills; including working effectively with other 3rd parties and other organizations
• Demonstrated high performance and achievement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience underwriting within the Public Entity domain
• Prior sales, account management, or business development experience

 Education:

• A Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field is preferred

It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
