The Data Architect will report to the Data Services Director and will be responsible for leading the rearchitecting and modernizing the SnapOne Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) ecosystem to the Azure cloud. This challenging role requires senior knowledge and experience across many facets of cloud technology: application development, hybrid environments / connectivity, and modern data services, while understanding the governance, security, monitoring and cost management aspects of the entire ecosystem.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the owning the modernization of the EDW platform engineering and sustainment of the SQL Server based solutions, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), implementing and owning master data processes, and performing data modeling in support of SnapOne’s various application development and data management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evolution our data warehouse solution and strategy to migrate to Azure
  • Crafting data architectures for products and services across the enterprise
  • Crafts technical solutions for software development projects and leads technical delivery and project team through the SDLC
  • Establish data integration strategies and reusable patterns for sharing of data assets for efficient use across the group
  • Architecting data pipelines utilizing cloud resources (ADF) to gather and prioritize data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Migrate data from on prem sources to Azure cloud
  • Interact closely with product owners and engineers to understand data, information, analytics and business intelligence requirements
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge
  • In partnership with the business development, solution architects and sales team, formulate and execute a strategy to drive adoption of data services.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, engineering teams and support
  • Present data strategy and architecture to senior leaders at appropriate level of depth with business focus as well as technical audiences with deep technical focus
  • Build deep relationships with senior business and technical individuals within Customers to enable them to be cloud advocates
  • Mentor & guide Tech Leads & Software Engineers

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of demonstrated ability building large-scale distributed Data Warehouse systems with a focus on high performance/high availability; OR 12 years of demonstrated ability building large-scale distributed Data Warehouse systems with a focus on high performance/high availability
  • 5 years working with Data Warehouse Design, Development, Optimization, and Performance Tuning
  • Thorough understanding of modern data architecture and use of modern toolsets such as Databricks, Azure Synapse, Etc
  • Firsthand experience rearchitecting and rebuilding an existing Data Warehouse
  • Thorough understanding of EDW methodologies (Kimball, Inmon)
  • 2 Years Azure SQL and/or SQL Managed Instance
  • 2 Azure Data Factory
  • Hands on experience working on large-scale data analytics projects
  • Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs.
  • Ability to prototype and evaluate applications and interaction methodologies.
  • Written and verbal technical communication skills with an ability to present sophisticated technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server “Stack”

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with In Memory Solutions, such as Power BI or Azure Analysis Services
  • Hands-on experience with Core Azure technologies such as ADF, AKF, SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Logic Apps, etc.
  • Proficiency with Power BI
  • 3 years experiences developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
