What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data center technician position at Snappyhires?
Provide overnight data center support from 9:30pm to 6:00am, Monday through Friday.
Assist with managing external vendors.
Assist with managing all inbound and outbound shipments of hardware.
Installation and initial configuration of all hardware.
Provide onsite technical support and troubleshooting for all IT environments.
Provide onsite tape management support; assist with managing all automatic tape library systems activities, upgrades, and all inbound/outbound tape processing.
Participate in disaster recovery testing for all managed systems.
Ability to work weekends and daytime shifts as needed for coverage.
Working knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Windows server environment and commands.
Working knowledge of network systems (primarily Cisco) and console commands.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP addressing.
Good understanding of emerging IT related technologies & their applications.
Ability to learn new software products and manage new hardware components on an independent basis.
Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate in a cross-cultural environment.
Demonstrated organization skills; good critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a dynamic environment; follow up to ensure deadlines are met; must be self-motivated.
Must work well independently and collaboratively with others in a team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to create and run copper cables (ethernet, serial, and crossover cables).
