Position Summary
Working under the direct supervision of the Snoqualmie Indian Child Welfare “SICW” Program Manager, the ICW Social Worker will provide direct services to Snoqualmie children involved in the State and Tribal child welfare systems, including joint Child Protective Services (“CPS”) investigations/case management services with Department of Children, Youth, and Families (“DCYF”) social workers. Work includes investigations, case management, referral, case coordination, home visits, court reporting, testimony, transportation and related services that support the goal of protecting Tribal children, reunification and long-term planning that supports the Snoqualmie Indian Child Welfare Program.
Essential Duties:
- Investigates allegations of child abuse and neglect, provides case management and services as needed. Works with children and families who are voluntarily or involuntarily engaged with SICW in child welfare services.
- Provide ongoing social work and case management services to Snoqualmie children and families involved child welfare services in Tribal Court and/or State Court.
- Prepare detailed court reports regarding engagement and progress toward court ordered services.
- Provide testimony in Tribal Court and/or State Court regarding progress made on active SICW cases.
- Provide detailed documentation in support of protecting children and providing reunification requirements. Provide referrals and case consultations for related services to children and families.
- Maintain case files, drafts detailed reports to Tribal Court and/or DCYF regarding progress made by children and families. Completes necessary related paperwork required to properly track client services and progress.
- Provide and document referrals and follow up services for children and families to existing Tribal Programs and other non-Tribal Programs. Conduct home visit at least one time monthly with children and their caregivers.
- Plan for and facilitate visitation between the child(ren) and their parent/guardian in the least restrictive environment.
- Make recommendations of short- and long-term placements of children.
- Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA requirements, completing all appropriate documents that authorize release of information.
- Coordinate with services providers to meet the needs of clients and children served by the SICW program.
- Provide culturally relevant, inclusive services remotely and in person, over the phone, and by email to families, childcare providers, and other community members.
- May be required, at times, to travel long distances for court appearances, visitation, and service delivery to children and families.
- Provide safe and reliable transportation of children and families as required.
Additional Duties:
- Maintain awareness of potential conflicts with current and historical ICW cases.
- Participate in program meetings and trainings as appropriate. Attend all required trainings which may include both local and out-of-state trainings, including a minimum of one ICW specific training per year.

Requirements
Education & Experience:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work required.
Education Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.
Experience:
- With Bachelor’s Degree - Three to six years related experience in social services.
- With Master’s Degree - Minimum one year of experience in social services field.
- Previous experience working in Tribal communities and/or experience working with Native families preferred.
- Proven experience in child abuse/risk assessment; child development; ICWA; budget management; foster licensing requirements.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver’s license.
- Upon hire, successfully complete and pass required trainings, such as defensive driving, mandatory reporting and HIPAA compliance.
- Current CPR/1st Aid card, TB immunization, and blood borne pathogens training preferred; required to obtain all within first six months of hire.
Other Requirements:
- Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check.
- Must have a current TB test.
Work Environment:
- The work is performed in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, client homes, adult family homes, and the usual office environment. Employees may be required to travel to clients' place of residence, courts, or various visitation and/or other locations of applicable meetings or events.
- Travel on behalf of the Tribe is a job requirement. Travel for case management and trainings may require local and/or out-of-state travel along with overnight stays.
- Regular interaction with high-risk clients including home visits that may be unaccompanied.

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe follows the Tribal Hiring Preference as outlined in tribal policies, including the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). TERO sets forth certain hiring preferences for qualified individuals who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe, as well as, in some cases, preference for certain family members of those individuals.
