TITLE: Co-Generation Technician
LOCATION: Snowbird Resort
STATUS: Full-time, year-round
SCHEDULE: Typically 7:00AM – 5:00PM, 4 days per week (one weekend day)

SUMMARY
As a Co-Gen Technician, you will work under the direction of the Co-Generation Manager to help provide heat and power in a safe and professional manner. The new Co-Gen Plant Technician will take a hands-on role in supporting the Co-Gen Plant Manager in providing heat and power to the Cliff Lodge and ensuring resort-wide electrical distribution. You will be key team member in heavy maintenance projects throughout the Cliff Lodge and at times throughout the resort. We are looking for candidates who have strong troubleshooting skills, a strong understanding of building systems and/or power generation systems, a continual desire to learn, understand and tackle the unique aspects of running a co-generation plant, and maintain the mechanical systems of our hotel.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Operate Cogeneration plant in a safe and reliable manner, frequently with a high degree of autonomy.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain and repair CHP plant operations, recognize and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions, alarms and other problems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain and repair building HVAC & BMS operations, recognize and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions, alarms and other problems.
- Occasional management of contractors & vendors.
- Develop, write, and maintain documentation for a variety of systems.
- The equipment to be operated includes, but is not limited to reciprocating engines, generators, boilers, building automation systems, HVAC systems, among others.
- Accurately document work performed.
- Address guest heating and cooling complaints as needed.
- Assist with various maintenance & construction related tasks around the village and mountain as directed.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Driver License with clean motor vehicle record.
- 5 or more years of relevant job-related work experience with demonstrated competence. Relevant fields may include but are not limited to: Engineering, Automation, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Test & Balance, Industrial Maintenance, and IT systems.
- Secondary education may be substituted for work experience on a case-by-case basis.
- Able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate/advanced level.
- Experience working in a plant, industrial, or other hazardous environment.
- Experience with project management.
Technical skills:
- Requires good risk management and decision-making abilities, occasionally in stressful and time sensitive situations.
- Able to identify and mitigate commercial, industrial, and environmental hazards.
- Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively via email, verbally and in writing.
- Cleans tools and equipment. Keeps a clean working environment.
- Must be able to operate general maintenance equipment.
- May drive a company vehicle at times.
- Must identify proper tools and preparation needed for a given task.
- Basic computer literacy, ability to operate MS Office software, and learn specialized programs.
- Use PPE appropriately to mitigate hazards.
Administrative skills:
- Documents problems & solutions as they arise.
- Track usage/stock of consumables.
- Responsible for the proper care and safe use of tools, equipment, cleaning fluids and chemicals.
- Follows safe practices on the job or while on Snowbird property and abides by all rules and regulations. Reports safety hazards or concerns to supervisor as soon as possible.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
- Typically 7:00AM – 5:00PM, 4 shifts per week (at least one weekend day),
- Shifts may vary due to special events/weather events.
- Requires occasional responses to after-hours emergencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary as dictated by equipment, weather or road closures.
- May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and around recognized hazards
- Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
- Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
